Purpose of WIC

The purpose of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is to promote and maintain the health and well-being of participants.  Those who are eligible include pregnant women, breast feeding women up to 1 year after delivery, non-breast feeding women up to 6 months after delivery, infants, and children up to age 5 yrs.   WIC provides supplemental nutritious foods, nutrition and breastfeeding information, and referral to other health and nutrition services.
