Local Area Not Affected by H1N1 Recall

Sanofi Pasteur, Inc, one of the H1N1 vaccine manufacturers, issued a national voluntary recall of some of its H1N1 vaccine for children ages nine and under. This was due to a potential potency factor, not a safety issue. San Juan Basin Health Department did NOT receive any of the recalled lots. Therefore, parents who had their children vaccinated at one of our community or in-school clinics can be reassured that the product used was effective.

Parents do still need to make sure that their child, if age 9 or under, receive a second dose. San Juan Basin Health is holding a community this Friday, December 18th from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Durango Mall and at its Pagosa Springs office from 1 to 4 p.m. Additionally, H1N1 vaccine is now available at City Market, Rivergate Pharmacy, and Walgreens in La Plata County.
